Hindustani Music in Melbourne

The Collective has started arranging guided practice sessions, baithaks (soirees), and online discussion sessions (The Raga Sessions). As a new organisation we look forward to continuing to develop our activities, collaborations, and knowledge base while detouring around market-based imperatives and commercial events. We look forward to sharing this journey with you.

The Hindustani Music Collective is a small not-for-profit organisation formed in Melbourne Australia in early 2022 by a group of musicians, students, scholars, and educated listeners of Hindustani music. Our members are based in Australia, Asia and Europe.

We all are dedicated to deepening our knowledge of Hindustani music practice, its history, and diverse cultures. We work with and are informed by our respected and learned creative collaborators in South Asia on this journey.
